Elladan and Elrohir, the Sons of Elrond Half-elven... perhaps mercifully cut from the movies, but still fodder for twincest and those lovely Mary-Sue romances.
Dislike Arwen-bashing, additional sisters, Evil!Lecherous!Elrond fics, twincest, and are spending the rest of their until-Canon-proof-to-the-contrary immortal lives hunting down the author of the fic "Celebrian".
you are an amazing artist... I love the LOTR mythology, although I am not a huge fan behind the books, the way that WETA brought the characters to life was amazing. It looks like you could seriously have worked for WETA. Although I haven't looked at your homepage yet, it probably turns out you do work for them!

Nope. Just your average insecure little art student here, in an illustration school chock-a-block of loads of depressingly talented other students.
You didn't read the books? Tss. Bad, bad movie-fan.
I enormously appreciate the work Weta put into bring Middle-earth to life and the amazing creativity of Alan Lee, John Howe and the whole team; I do have some bones to pick with Jackson's story-telling tweaks and changes, though, and I fell in love with the books very young--they have my heart, though the movies have me gobsmacked.
But thanks a million for the high praise!

Nostalgic for 80s fantasy films. When glitter was cheap, monsters were muppets, and Evil was smexy.
Au contraire, my gallic friend. I read the books when I was around 13 years old (about 5 years ago) but have only read them once.
Whereabouts in France are you living? I used to live in the Cognac region when I was very young (3-6 years old) but I have extremely fond memories of living there. I love the French!
Vive la France!

Call me gallic at your peril.
I'm an expat Brit, actually. Used to live in Amersham, moved to France when I was pretty wee... I'm in the Grenoble area, French Alps.
Though OK, I have dual nationality by now.
Well, without your fond mist of childhood nostalgia... France is fine by me. But I'll just say I hate the French dubbing of LOTR... "Comte" and "Sacquet" lack the chill of a hissed "Sssshire... Bagginsss..." ... and don't get me started on how they translated Shadowfax. "Gripoil"?!! :headdesk:

And so, what is the obsession with LOTR characters wearing Black Leather?
If you don't mind me asking, what is the significance of the balloon drawing that you did?
I have to say it touches me, it's my favourite drawing of yours.

The Black Leather Alliance (the EiB) comes from the hilarious fanfic by Miss Cam called The Official Fanfiction University of Middle-earth aka OFUM (see [link] for more detail and a lot of laughs), in which the fanfic writing fangirls are transported to a real and pissed-off Middle-earth faculty, with courses such as Lord Elrond's Numerology 101, in which it is forcibly explained that there were only NINE Walkers in the Fellowship, and no mysterious tenth female warrior princess, or Platonic Love 101 taught by Frodo and Sam. It's the original and probably still the best "fanfiction university" fic.
Lord Elrond created the EiB for reasons yet unclear. Speculation has it that the sight of "OMG teh hawt Elves!!" in tight black leather causes hormonal overload in fangirls, therefore handily knocking them out. All I know is that I got caught up in a vicious cycle of pandering to the inexplicable enthusiasm the first Black Leather pics got me...
The balloon pic?... how banal... I got dumped. That's me with the red hair. Though the "thinking of you" line is addressed to my best friend, who has the pic, rather than the guy in question.
I really appreciate you taking a shine to it. Ta.

Yes, El-twins. They are seriously my favorite characters and always have been, and this was always my favorite of the ELB pics. Thanks for putting it up here.
When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. Have a great time everyone and please fav this article so as many people can see the featured works. I would recommend seeing each one and faving them too.
