Disclaimer: no, I do not obsessively stalk Mr Gaiman...
I'm just a big fan of all his works. And we had an portrait assignment in my press illustration class, and he was my choice. Sadly few of my French classmates know The Sandman, or many of his novels...
non mais merde a la fin, il est carrement pas assez connu en France.
Gouache, portait drawn from several photo references. Spot the allusions to his works...
Joli ! Il rend super bien ^^
C'est vrai qu'il n'est pas très connu, mais du peu que j'ai lu (Neverwhere), j'ai trouvé ça vraiment très bien écrit et très intéressant...

On reflection and seeing the portrait shrunk down, I'm thinking I lengthened his face a wee bit though.
And I think a few people took note of the name. (One guy chose Terry Pratchett for the same assignment and knew Good Omens at least.)
Now, if only they'd release MIRRORMASK properly over here and I didn't have to resort to illegal means to get my sweaty little paws on a copy of it... and nobody heard that...

Nostalgic for 80s fantasy films. When glitter was cheap, monsters were muppets, and Evil was smexy.
Nice..when I saw the thumbnail I know it looked familiar to me. Love the little fishy and of course the Ankh from death - neat to put htis litle things in the portrai.
Met him once when he was on a lecturing tour through germany for one of his books - think it was "American Gods" ( had me signed my copy of "Neverwhere") Also read all the Sandman Comics and yesterday I also saw his movie Mirror Mask.

Thanks.
You met him? Dat is cool.
Still haven't seen Mirrormask, *frustrated*.
If you like Neverwhere and other Sandman stuff, I hope you saw my fanart pieces in my gallery *shamelessselfplugging*...

When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Have a great time everyone and please fav this article so as many people can see the featured works. I would recommend seeing each one and faving them too.

Did this portrait inspire your classmates to examine some of his writings? Something has to. *shakes head at such sad ignorance*
