Legolas tracking in Mirkwood, pre-Fellowship...

Watercolour and sepia ink. Nothing near Alan Lee subtlety in the forest... and he looks a bit stiff... ah well.

This is beautiful! Very well done. I like how you were consistent with the foresty colors, and I like Legolas' expression a lot!

My one quip: isn't that his movie costume? If this is him pre-Fellowship, I'd like to have seen him in an outfit of your own design...

But other than that, really superb!
:iconmisslyka:
Wow, this is a really good watercolour. I love the colors used. Good job!

You're right about the costume... I was really just sticking to basic vanilla Legolas as identified in the movies here. (For myself, I prefer him with dark hair...).
My bad, though. Should've made with the pretty Sindar costume. Will do, and will call you when I do! ^_^

Thanks!

Nostalgic for 80s fantasy films. When glitter was cheap, monsters were muppets, and Evil was smexy.

Nah, not stiff. The hand looks a bit odd, but I like it. I like the whole thing, actually, because Legolas looks rather more serious and sensible than he is usually portrayed. And the composition is something else I like alot.

I'm covered with the fingerprints of everyone I've ever met. ~~ I don't want to love with my knees turned to jelly, my head spinning, or butterflies in my stomach; but, instead, with eyes wide open and both feet planted firmly on solid ground.~~
:iconpika-la-cynique:
Thank you.
Yeah, the hand is... blah. Strangely enough, I spent the most time working on his face... whoddathunkit, eh? Glad you liked it, I was rather hoping for that "serious" look (there are giant spiders out there, people!)(and Mary-Sues!).

...

Oh dear... caption contest, anyone?

LEGOLAS [looking up from footprint] - Shit. Another 'Sue.
=D

cheers!

Yes! someone else who hearts dark haired Legolas! Looking forward to it. I do love this one too, though
:icongundamkiwi:
He's not stiff, he's just tense. There are giant spiders and Mary Sues out there, after all. ;)
I really like the narrow palette of earthy colors you used. Bravo! :)
