This (mini) arc still makes me smile. Grin. *huff* Fine. SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Even on a third re-read.
Like, he has wrangled his way into her bedroom and linen closet on occasion, but in a way all Sarah's rejecting him *would* kinda coalesce around the notion that "I am never letting him into my bed" in the figurative sense but thus make her literal bed somewhat magically repellant to him. She [however unconciously] demands SOME safe space, and where she is asleep and vulnerable and DREAMING needs to be no-go for him ("Things Remembered" being a seperate case of minds meeting hallfway and then her sleepwalking towards him). Her Certain Powers subtly at work.
... This is way too overthought for a comment on pillows.
That makes sense, about her bed being magically repellant. And her Certain Powers would enforce that. So long as Sarah's mind insists against Jareth, the Certain Powers line up to defend. Which would also hold against goblins sent to embue Sarah's bed with Jareth's scent or essence or whatever, too, I imagine. Ahh, the Certain Powers have access to her changing moods, her deeply held certainties, and her shifting of opinions.
Pillows seem to be the only real rival that Jareth has to fear, after all.
