This storyline owes its existence to several long chats with ~toshers-girl discussing what would happen should the Goblin King and the Marquis de Carabas (from Neil Gaiman's kickass urban fantasy novel, and BBC serial, 'Neverwhere') ever meet. We quickly reached the conclusion that the Marquis had the penchant for leather frockcoats, style, nerve and sheer bloody-mindedness to nick Jareth's clothes if he was so inclined.
(I also have a short, straight and grim Jareth/de Carabas encounter one-shot fic, over on ff net > [link]
Richard accidentally ended up looking rather like his creator. This was unintentional, but cool.
...and yes, that's landlady.
To be continued, naturellement!

(Doing the visual research for this made me realize all over again just how frikkin' cool His Majesty's outfits are... /fangirl )

Sarah and Jareth (c) Lucas, Froud, Henson; Connelly and Bowie Neverwhere characters and places (c) Neil Gaiman
Based on the original Roommates comic by *AsheRhyder.
I haven't read either of them yet, but they're on my spring/summer reading list. I have to read lots of literary criticism/"serious literature" for my two English courses this semester.
I haven't actually read (nor watched) 'Neverwhere' Just recently, I've started getting very interested in Gaiman's works, and Neverwhere is high on my list. This page just pushed it higher.
I read your fanfiction anyways. You have an amazing writing style! Visually descriptive, natural conversation, easy flow, and very interesting read. The only thing I could criticize would be that there was 2/3 too much sentences of Jareth teasing de Carabas on how much he could have gained, had he known the value of Sarah beforehand. But, that's extreme nitpicking, and it really is a part of the Goblin King's manner and character.
I wonder what Sarah thought, when she saw de Carabas. What the smile was for, and how much she suspected.
There's an awesomely cast BBC radioplay of Neverwhere coming soon, I am so hyped.
