A whole new year of insanity begins!
Presenting the Girls Next Door (well, technically they're upstairs but I liked the name better) ... that is, the girls' side of the Roommates story.
Roommates, starring Jareth, the Phantom of the Opera, Commodore (or Admiral) Norrington, Javert and supporting cast all living in modern apartments and driving one another up the wall is a fancomic by the wonderfully talented and hilarious Go forth and read it, if thou hast not yet done so.
After expressing my boundless admiration and love of the strip, I begged permission to try my hand at a pendant comic... with, naturally, Sarah and Christine in the main roles.
The few times they've appeared in Roommates, the girls have been a sensible, civilizing influence, and stood as a united front against the silly boys.
Expect a lot more craziness and bitching to be going on in their own apartment.
Here's the first one. This is up as a test - please question and critique away and let me know your thoughts on legibility, etc... I'm wondering whether it's worth me inking these, if I have the time...
I have loads of ideas scribbled down, but I'll be very open to suggestions.
This is a work of fanart, and solely intended for shits and giggles. No money is being made by this.
Sarah (c) Henson, Lucas and Connelly.
Christine (c) Leroux and Webber.

This is, officially, my favourite web-comic, and piece of fan-work in existence.
I found reading Girls Next Door a while back, somewhere in the middle of the night while doing an English essay. The English essay was temporarily abandoned, and I stayed up during the night to finish this wonderful series, to its last update. I was so struck by the originality and humour, but didn't feel myself coherent enough to make any sort of comments 4am in the morning. I spent the next morning jumping up and down excitedly, and telling everyone I saw (friend, teacher, bus-driver) about this wonderful discovery (it took a while to realised I was still too tired, and made no sense)
Now that I'm re-reading I wanted to leave a comment, and let you know how happy this comic makes me ^^ You and AsheRhyder have managed to put all of my favourite books and films together, in a funny, yet rather true-to-the-characters manner. I love it.
I read all these comics for the first this past weekend...I do believe my mother was a bit worried about my sanity (my siblings have already accepted my craziness) as I kept laughing maniacally and falling off my chair in laughter. Several times I think I jumped up and danced around the room, because my joy could not be contained. This is a wonderful strip, I don't think I will ever tire of reading it!!
I came across this strip a little while back when a page in the 160 range floated into the recently popular indexes. It caught my attentention, so I marked it with the intent of dropping back to page 1. I'm so glad I did. Klaybird has threatened twice to call the ambulance if I don't stop falling on the floor laughing my butt off from reading it! I think she's hooked on it now.
...I just noticed something. Christine says "Would you believe my previous roommate here moved out because she couldn't cope with my</i> jealous murderous psycho stalker ex breaking in all the time...?" In the next episode, she all-but-admits that she has NO idea where Erik is (out of the whole world). Um...plothole much?

Well, if it took 4 years for anyone to notice, that's not too bad... Oh lawks, that is kinda embarrassing. Hee for early ideas tumbling out with little sense of a need for continuity...

Nostalgic for 80s fantasy films. When glitter was cheap, monsters were muppets, and Evil was smexy.
I'm pretty sure that's happened to me before, in writing a story. The annoying bit is going back and rewriting/justifying. Of course, you could just argue that Christine suspected that Erik was *around*, but she had no clue that he was in the same building. And who knows? He may have moved into the building after her, BECAUSE she lived there.
