Erik: Does Not Enjoy the Outdoors.
And James, for having been (however briefly) a
real pirate, and fighting him with a
real pirate sword, is pretty much the coolest person in Toby's world right now.
"flaming DEATH!!" pretty heavily influenced by/ripped of "A Bug's Life". Proof of Goblins being flameproof is courtesy of Lixxle's research into the matter.

As always, wild speculation on the re-read is from fangirl & JS shipper mindset, and is not intended to be taken too seriously.
Sarah obviously prefers wearing her hair down most of the time anyway (also, some Canon Image Inertia there). And as shippy as the idea is, I can't imagine part of Sarah's morning ritual is "dressing for Jareth's attention". That doesn't feel right at all. Vanity and glamour are definitely more his domain.
Plus, you know, she's got Jennifer Connelly's physique, she looks good falling out of bed.
(Obviously in a much later arc, the spy catsuit and the hair-down preference were taken into account and weaponized somewhat. I do adore Suddenly Flustered Jareth, when he is usually the one oozing sexual harassment - we saw that in his naughty dream - but flirting proper is not a terrain GND-Sarah often tries to fight him on; in this particular flavour of JS poker (unlike fics with important things at stake in their confrontation) Jareth rarely sees as a weakness in need of hiding the fact that she turns him on, so that is hard for Sarah to manipulate - and he doesn't fluster as easily as Erik faced with cleavage. And GND Sarah is deliberately younger, more volatile, and less self-possessedly sexual than her older, worldy French roommate, and inappropriate flirting is Jareth's own weapon of choice, so, again, poor stratgey for her to employ. Quick-witted and defiant as she may be, fighting via sexual innuendoes and suggestive back and forth [like in my T-shirt Incident fic] would quickly give Jareth the advantage.)
Part of me can't help but wonder what GND-Jareth would do if Sarah tried to cut / dye her hair; I am among those who have tried fics that include that idea. I could almost imagine GND-Sarah trying this out of defiance, but catching herself just-barely-in-time (or knowing that the dye was the wash-out kind). Would GND-Jareth panic / be upset if Sarah suddenly had blondish (or blue or purple or...) hair?
I, also, adore the Suddenly Flustered Jareth, on the very rare occasion that we see him. Funny how quickly he adapts, no?
...and all of this discussion makes me wonder about the current arc, too.
I think I've toyed with that idea, maybe in relation to her unflattering 'Return to Labyrinth' look - any major alteration like that horrendous haircut would be met with an instantaneous and magical NOPE from His Nibs.
And yes, that incremental is deliberate - especially after the big Conversation - once Sarah officially set to rest her deep and long-held-as-a-shield suspicion that the whole courtship thing is some elaborate revenge prank on her, then yes, there are careful inches to be negotiated and the "ok party's over, go away now" line she draws has indeed gradually moved back.
(Although one of her own biggest flirty ouvertures was waaaaaay back in the first Valentine's page when Jareth drunkenly fluffed up a major opportunity - so much lost ground from the start!)
And as to the current arc - indeed; she's hanging out with him on reasonably friendly terms and trusting him A LOT - the onus is on him to screw up or build on that...
I'm really hoping that whenever (yeah, I'm an optimist, but it can't all go too smoothly) Jareth steps in it, Sarah will be able to see that it's him lapsing into Fae habits, instead of thinking that he's out for revenge / flaunting.
PLUS, I've been wondering what kind of random daydream Jareth's going to have whenever the royal baby is born, considering that he "mentally fit [Sarah] for a royal wedding dress" for William & Kate's nuptials.
As things stand, Sarah really has made the deliberate and not-quite-easy decision to take J's courtship of her as being sincere, so it's not so much that she'd return to her old suspicion of his motives being revenge or dickish, as it is that any truly major (and hurtful to her) screw-up on his part at this point would be a very bad mark against his actual potential in a relationship - there is plenty of slack allowed for his being Fae and an eejit, since he is obviously trying to do good by her and she recognizes that, but she's entitled to steer well clear of properly sociopathic and otherwise unacceptable behaviour if it's stuff he doesn't compute as being wrong. There's a learning curve, but there are also warning signs.
I think J is still very much fixating on achieving the "potentially conception-causing acts" level of royal baby-making much more than any happy family daydreams...
And I'm wondering just when / how Jareth passed Human Morality 101... (although I rather remember coming across comments about it at some point along the way, just not immediately springing to mind)
And... yeah. But maybe he can get a celebratory kiss out of Sarah for it?
/ever the fluffy-hopeful fangirl!
Yes. They are in an interestingly tentative place at the moment...
... although I still fear Sarah's reaction if faced with Jareth showing interest in any baby would be pretty suspicious.
