Because Spuffy hits quite a few of the same spots as J/S... [at least when it's done by goodficcers like KnifeEdge ( [link] )]
[Someone pointed out his scar is on the wrong eyebrow - sorry, but I had this one magazine picture of him pinned up on my wall my entire adolescence with it on that side and I cannot change that Head-Spike. (and hey, Sarah's hair parting is on the opposite side of how it is in the movie anyhoo.)]
Buffy... may yet show up.
And as to the matter of what season Spike this is and the chip business - Who's to say he's truthin' ? I'm thinking for a "post-canon" Spike, the chip gives him a good excuse to act decent if he chooses to hang out with "good" characters, and an ace to play when least expected.
Also, Christine's anti-vampire stance was briefly mentioned in the Wibsy club introduction - basically - (the whole blood-drinking and sublimination of sexual urges aside)... what is the classic vampire if not a murderous aristo [often Frenchman] in period evening dress with hypnotic-esque powers hiding away underground and being predatory around young girls...? Been there, done that, starred in one of the original Gothic Romance tales. (Also, too many badphics think making Erik a vampire is such an original awesome idea...)

Spike aka William the Bloody (c) Joss Whedon, James Marsters, Mutant Enemy Sarah and Jareth (c) Lucas, Froud, Henson; Connelly&Bowie
Based on the original Roommates comic by *AsheRhyder
I like that Jareth's text in panel... 8? (when we "hear" him before he see him) is slightly larger, communicating that he's doing his Big!Grand!Impressive!Goblin King type of speaking.
I also find it interesting how Jareth's first comment about not taunting someone who is powerless has so very many levels: At face-value: Not very tactful there, love. Ease off. Ouch! Personal remembrance: Because I didn't like it when you did it to me, and I don't like being reminded of that pain / embarrassment / ending I didn't like. Snark: Even though this guy's apparently powerless *snerk* at the moment, so I acknowledge that you could probably handle him.
But Jareth's not one to miss an opportunity to declare his rights!
PLEASE include more spike if you can. He's my favorite Buffy character, though having faith or Wesley come around wouldn't be too bad either so long as it is post Angel for them. Kind of only really loved them after they started hanging out in LA.
also I have to ask why you stuck to season 4-5 Spike and not Season 5 Angel? Was it just for the whole don't taunt the powerless quip?
You believe everything Spike says? Like I mention in my notes above (artist comments are for reading!) the chip thingie is something Spike would probably like to keep mentioning, in this whole "post-canon" comic setting which is presumably after his whole story has played out - it gives him a plausible excuse to hang out with good guys, for which he did kinda acquire a taste (... not literally), and an ace up his sleeve to play in a tight spot when people think him powerless. Also, is kind of his more unique trait. Yanno. There are sparkly vampires, and angsty soulled vampires, and the chipped vampire...
sorry, i guess this was one of the few authors notes that i missed. can't read them all. though i do understand where you are going.
also i'm not a flamer or trying to start fights on the internet, i'm just curious about your writing process since i really like what you do. i actually really prefer your art as opposed to the roommate's stuff
*tackle glomps you* spike! spike is my first fictional character crush and I am so happy you put him in and the dialogue and eeeEEEEEeeeeee *wiggles excitedly*
