There's no telling with Jareth if those are genuine good intentions under the prickliness and sniping, or if he just doesn't want to be the lone unrepentent villain, or if anything Sarah said to him in regards to respecting her thought process and privacy and her need for time to make up her own mind has any applicability in his eyes to her roommate/anyone else actually, or if he just can't resist a chance to make mischief and enervate Javert.
